BLA on Bornheimer Straße has been around since 1983, making it one of the oldest alternative bars in Bonn. The name says it all — this is not a place for explanations, it is a place for living. The bar is a remnant of Bonn's old punk scene and has stayed true to itself across the decades: dark rooms, loud music, cheap drinks, and a crowd that values attitude over interior design.

Small concerts, DJ nights, and spontaneous events are a regular occurrence. The music selection ranges across punk, indie, post-punk, and everything that does not fit the mainstream. The regulars are a tight-knit bunch, but newcomers are welcomed warmly as long as they do not mind the worn-out furniture.

Open daily. BLA is not a bar you recommend because it is pretty — you recommend it because it is real. Anyone looking for an evening away from the polished gastronomy landscape will find one of the last truly authentic spots in the city.
