Helenenstraße
Brothels · Bremen
Helenenstrasse is Germany's oldest continuously operating prostitution street, in existence since 1873. Located in the heart of Bremen's Viertel quarter, it is a piece of city history that endures to this day. In the small houses along the short street, around 40 to 50 women work, presenting themselves in doorways and windows. The process is straightforward: visitors walk through the street, approach if interested, and prices are negotiated individually.
The street is publicly accessible and sits remarkably central — just a few minutes' walk from cafes, restaurants, and the everyday life of the neighborhood. This proximity to normal city activity is a distinctive feature that sets Bremen apart from other German red-light districts. There are no visual barriers or fences like those at Hamburg's Herbertstrasse.
Open daily, Helenenstrasse is most active during evening and nighttime hours. Prices sit in the lower range, which has earned the street its reputation as an affordable option. Visitors should be aware that this is a historic location with a long tradition — though the quality of the experience varies considerably and depends on individual circumstances.
