Kalif Storch

Kalif Storch at the former freight railway station has been the beating heart of Erfurt's subculture and queer scene since 2015. The name sounds like something from a fairy tale, and indeed the place has the feel of an enchanted free space: concerts, readings, film screenings, workshops, and parties alternate in a program as diverse as its audience. Kalif Storch sees itself as an open, inclusive space where everyone is welcome — regardless of background, gender, or sexual orientation.

The atmosphere is shaped by DIY initiative and community spirit. Drink prices are deliberately kept low, and much of the operation runs on volunteer effort. The location at the Güterbahnhof sits somewhat removed from the city center, which fits the venue's character — people who come here, come with intention. Kalif Storch is not an ordinary bar but a cultural hub that represents Erfurt's alternative side like no other place in the city.
