Strandsalon on Willy-Brandt-Allee is Luebeck's answer to the craving for a beach bar right in the city. On a stretch near the Trave river, sand is poured out in summer, deck chairs are set up, and a bar opens serving everything from cocktails and long drinks to local beer. The concept is seasonal — in the colder months, operations are paused.

The atmosphere is deliberately laid-back. Beach attire is welcome, music plays in the background, and the pace is slower than in the old town clubs. On sunny afternoons and warm summer evenings, Strandsalon fills up fast with a crowd looking to combine after-work drinks with an outdoor vibe. Prices sit in the mid-range — a touch more than a pub, but reasonable for the setting.

Strandsalon is not a year-round operation, so checking the website for current opening hours and the start of the season is a good idea. Bad weather can make things quiet. On good summer evenings, however, Strandsalon is one of the liveliest spots in town, offering an experience you will not find in the historic old town.
