Contra N

Since 1989, Contra N has been a refuge for anyone who has little use for the mainstream. The bar on Werftstraße stands for alternative, rock, and punk — no compromises and no doorman attitude. If you walk in, you belong. The walls are covered with band posters and stickers, the music is loud, and the beer is cheap.

The programming consists of a mix of DJ nights and occasional live acts. The regulars know each other, but newcomers are welcomed openly — especially if they bring the right taste in music. The vibe is rough, warm, and refreshingly unpretentious.

Open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Nights at Contra N start late and end even later. Anyone looking for Mannheim's authentic underground scene will find it here — and has been able to for over three decades.
